UTL is both ethnically and educationally diverse

The UTL is diverse, in regards to both ethnicity and job descriptions. The lab is run by Dr. Peter Martin, a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Utah. He is aided by Dr. Aleksandar Stevanovic, a research associate.

The lab employs both graduate and undergraduate students from around the world to work on transportation-related projects. Each student works on a separate project that contributes to the progression of the transportation engineering field. The students are dedicated and hardworking. They spend time both in and out of the lab researching, collecting and analyzing data, and writing about their findings.

In addition to employees working on transportation projects, the lab also employs a secretary, a computer technician and an editor. The secretary is in charge of administrative duties like scheduling, purchasing, keeping records, typing letters and university forms, and filing. The technician’s duties include web page design and editing, maintenance and updating of the lab computers, and purchasing and installation of software. The editor works with the students to improve the grammar and organization of their work, and helps ready papers for publication.
